Steam Release Date

Happy Wheels released on Steam on 21 September 2026. That date is the release_date field on app 4705510, and Total Jerkface posted that the game was releasing on Steam that day.

Where to play

I checked the US English appdetails response on 1 October 2026. coming_soon was false and date was the string Sep 21, 2026. I did not find a region in the notes I pulled where the date was still marked coming soon. The trailer file on Steam’s CDN carries a timestamp of 19 September 2026, two days before launch.

Release facts

Steam and the developer’s launch announcement agree on the release date.

Edition	Release date	Source
Steam, app 4705510	21 September 2026	Steam store and Total Jerkface launch post
Original browser game	4 June 2010	Wikipedia and speedrun.com; no surviving official launch post verified
JavaScript browser port	28 December 2020	Total Jerkface announcement

How the date showed up

The Happy Wheels Fandom page says the Steam edition was announced in early September 2026, and that the browser main menu gained a Steam button around then. A gallery note on that page points at a store screenshot dated 9 September 2026. I am treating the announcement window as a wiki report, and the 21 September launch as the store’s own date.

Before that, the game’s public life was the browser. Wikipedia and speedrun.com both use 4 June 2010 for the original release. iOS followed in August 2015, Android on 25 January 2020, and the HTML5 remake on 28 December 2020.

What “out” means here

Launch day was version 1.99 in the community release log. Two small patches followed on 23 and 26 September 2026. Wishlist count from the official site’s launch note was 750,000 in the two weeks before release, and the port is credited to kwlsh. I am not printing a sales or concurrent-player figure, because the store API does not include one.
